Overview
Welcome! We are looking forward to an exciting and rewarding year together as we design a program for your
individual child's needs and rate of development. Our goal is to serve the whole child as a part of the family, the extended community and as a Child of God. Parenting workshops will be offered periodically and you are encouraged to speak with the directors and teachers about your concerns at any time.
Originally established in the early 1970's, Central Early Childhood Center is a community outreach ministry of Central United Methodist Church. We are non-profit, non-sectarian and accept all children regardless of race, sex, creed or national origin. The needs of a handicapped child are considered on an individual basis. The Directors are responsible to the Child and Family Advisory Board, a governing board comprised of Church members, teachers, directors and parents. Central Preschool (ages 3 and potty trained through Pre-Kindergarten) works as a follow-up to Central Kids' Day Out (ages 4 months through Pre-Kindergarten) to serve the whole family.
Central Early Childhood Center became fully accredited for the first time through the National Association for the Education of Young Children in June of 2003 and re-accredited in June 2008 valid until 2013. The accreditation system is designed to meet two major goals: 1) To help CECC personnel become involved in a process that will facilitate real and lasting improvements in the quality of our program serving young children, and 2) to evaluate the quality of our program by the criteria for high quality programs. Criteria for NAEYC accreditation are in the following areas: teacher/child interactions, curriculum, physical environment, health & safety, teacher qualifications, community and family relations, assessment of child progress & leadership and management (www.naeyc.org/academy).
We thank Central United Methodist Church for their continued support.
Please call or e-mail the directors for more information or to arrange a tour of the center.
