Want to be a Part of the Stephen Minister Training Classes? Here’s What to do…

Central UMC will be training a first class of Stephen Ministers beginning this September on Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to grow in faith, develop stronger relational skills, and bring Christ’s love into the lives of hurting people. If you are interested in being a part of this new and exciting ministry, complete the Stephen Minister Application.  Fill it out and return it to the church office.

We will then schedule a time during the end of July when you can meet with a couple of our Stephen Leaders to learn more about the training and so we can learn more about your interest in this ministry. If you have any questions, talk with one of our Stephen Leaders: Rev. Amy, Connie Hartline, Roger Odneal, Bev Lindsey or Maggie Holley. Act now! Time’s running out!  For more information on Stephen Ministries, check out the Stephen Ministries page.

WELCOME!

Welcome to Central United Methodist Church, where everyone is central as we celebrate the unconditional love of God for all people.

Our Mission

Central United Methodist Church celebrates Christ's unconditional love that changes lives every day, as together we reach up to God, reach within ourselves, and reach out to the world.

Ministry Plan

Central has adopted an exciting new Ministry Plan setting out goals for our ministries, resources, and facilities as we share the unconditional love of Christ. Check back often for the exciting new fruits this Plan will bear for our Church and our community.

Announcements

Welcoming Students: Super Thursday

We are gearing up to make August 14th the day we show UMKC that Central cares about it's university neighbors. Sign up to help at as many of the events as you'd like by e-mailing Creighton.

Volunteers wearing Yellow Door ministry t-shirts will be available to help our new neighbors get settled in from 8 a.m. to noon. From 1 to 4 p.m., Central will host the International Student Garage Give Away. Please donate any gently-used house wares which could be used in the rooms of international students. From noon to 8 p.m., we will also be hosting a cookout to welcome our new neighbors.

Staff Changes

Central is pleased to announce two new staff members. We will be asking the Bishop to appoint the Rev. Creighton Alexander to a full time appointment as the Pastor of Student Life Ministries. Also, Donna Kinder has accepted the position of Director of the Early Childhood Center. For more information on both Rev. Alexander and Ms. Kinder, see Rev. Amy's letter to the congregation. We welcome them to the Central staff.
