Central offers a wide variety of Christian education opportunities. In addition to Sunday school classes each Sunday at 9:30, Bible study groups meet throughout the week. Central offers Sunday school classes for all ages. Child care is also available every Sunday morning, from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Feel free to contact us with any questions you have.
Children's Classes At Central, we want children to experience Christianity, not just learn about it. Our ministry explores the wonders of our faith through storytelling, computers, science, cooking, art, music, and games! Ages 2 to 12 meet each Sunday morning in Kenwood Hall. Parents are welcome to watch or participate in the fun.2008 Class/Curriculum Schedule - Look at the topics to be covered for the rest of the year.
Youth Education Mid-High Youth (grades 6 to 8) meet with Brandon in Kenwood and then go from there. Join us this summer as we get ready for the mission trip to St. Louis. This fall, we'll be starting exciting new ways to find God's presence in our lives.
Student Education
The Faith Divers student education class meets Sunday mornings in Oak Hall. We use the Faithlink curriculum from Cokesbury that dives into the intersection of our faith and current events, social justice issues, politics, and much more. Don't come expecting a lecture. Come to challenge yourself. And us.
Adult Education Mather Class - Members of the Mather class are primarily mature adults who have grown families, but offer something of interest and inspiration to any age group. They meet each Sunday at 9:30 in Oak Hall.
Pastor's Class - Afraid of the “e-word”? Why is evangelism (sharing the Good News of God’s love) a bad word in the church? Have you ever wanted to know how to share your faith but didn’t know how? Want to deepen your own faith relationship with God? This class is for you!
Join us this summer, June through July in the Pastor’s Class, one of our 9:30 a.m. Sunday School classes for adults, led by Rev. Amy. We will meet in Oak Hall and be joined by our Student Ministry class. Books will be available on Sunday, June 1. Join us when you’re in town this summer, and read along when you’re out of town. Build new relationships with your church friends as well as imagine a new relationship with God and others through this study. L
Later this Fall, following the study, Central will participate in a planning and preparing meeting to strengthen our evangelism as we join 35 other churches to study for a day with the author of Unbinding the Gospel, Martha Grace Reese, when she comes to KC on Sept. 20. Join us as we learn together and apply our lessons to real life changes in our own lives and in our church! For more info, contact Rev. Amy at amy@centralcares.com or 816-753-1844.
Crusader's Class - First organized in 1946 as a young couples class, members are now mostly seniors. The lessons are based on the Methodist Quarterly. Teachers rotate on a monthly basis. Committees plan five social events during the year, along with a coffee hour one Sunday each month, before and after class. The Crusader's Class meets in Barrows Chapel.
Special Sunday school classes and Bible study groups form throughout the year. Check back frequently for more information on our Christian education opportunities.
